Single crochet 2 stitches together (sc2tog)

Here's how to single crochet two stitches together:

  1. Begin with the yarn and hook of your choice. Insert your hook into the first stitch (the one on the left if you're working from right to left).

  2. Yarn over (wrap the yarn around your hook from back to front).

  3. Pull up a loop through the first stitch. You should now have two loops on your hook.

  4. Insert your hook into the next stitch (the one on the right) from front to back.

  5. Yarn over again and pull up a loop through the second stitch. You should now have three loops on your hook.

  6. Yarn over once more and pull through all three loops on your hook.

You have now successfully single crocheted two stitches together, decreasing your stitch count by one.

Single crochet creates a neat decrease and can be used to shape your work in various crochet projects, such as amigurumi, shaping a hat, or forming the toe of a sock, among others.
